Hoskins trustees approve July street closures for 108 Bar & Grill, award $35,991 street-repair contract and appoint fire chief

The Village of Hoskins Board of Trustees on March 2 approved temporary Main Street closures to allow 108 Bar & Grill to hold a street dance on July 3, 2026 and a car show on July 5, 2026, awarded a $35,991 contract for 2026 street repairs and appointed Adam Behmer as Hoskins/Woodland Park fire chief.
Trustee Sarah Kimmel moved to approve the street closures requested by Brandi, owner of 108 Bar & Grill, including the plan to erect fencing and to apply for a Special Designated Liquor License; Trustee Devin Pekny seconded. The board voted by roll call with all present members voting yes and the motions carried. The car show for July 5 was approved under the same motion procedure.
Also during the meeting the trustees reviewed bids for street repairs and chose Midwest Coatings’ bid of $35,991.00. Trustee Kimmel moved to accept the bid and Trustee Pekny seconded; the motion carried on a unanimous roll call.
The board approved a building permit for Roger and Bonnie Walker at 103 East Spring Branch Road after a motion from Trustee Devin Pekny, seconded by Trustee Sarah Kimmel; roll call was unanimous.
On the Cable One dba Sparklight franchise agreement, trustees discussed changing the proposed length of the contract from 20 years to five years and agreed to contact the company; Trustee Kimmel moved to postpone consideration until the next meeting so staff can pursue that change, Trustee Pekny seconded and the motion carried.
Trustee Kimmel moved to appoint Adam Behmer as Hoskins/Woodland Park Fire Chief and to appoint Becky Lange as Hoskins/Woodland Park EMT Captain; both motions were seconded by Trustee Pekny and approved unanimously by roll call.
Staff updates included a signed purchase agreement for a partial lot next to the park (pending Stewart Title completion), community input on park equipment, an acceptable monthly coliform test for February, well-efficiency testing by Sargent Drilling, and service to an electric motor. The minutes note the pump will either be rebuilt or replaced and that staff will review the budget to determine timing.
The trustees approved the bills presented for payment on a motion by Trustee Kimmel with a second from Trustee Pekny; roll call was unanimous. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
