Hoskins Village Trustees approve KENO ownership change, employee handbook and local contracts

The Village of Hoskins Board of Trustees on Oct. 6 approved a series of routine local actions, including a KENO sales outlet ownership transfer and adoption of an employee handbook.

At the start of the meeting James Miller, who presided, confirmed trustees James Miller, Kris Thies, Sarah Kimmel and Tyler Classen were present. Trustee Sarah Kimmel moved to approve the Sept. 16 meeting minutes; Kris Thies seconded and the motion carried on a roll-call vote.

The trustees voted to approve a KENO sales outlet application transferring ownership of the outlet at 108 Bar & Grill from Ryan Anderson to Brandi Sporleder. The motion was made by Kris Thies and seconded by Tyler Classen; the vote was recorded as all yea.

The board then adopted Resolution 2025-07 to approve the Village employee handbook. Trustee Sarah Kimmel moved to adopt the resolution, with Classen seconding; roll call was all yea.

Trustees approved contracting 500 gallons of propane from Farmers Coop (motion by Thies, second by Kimmel) and, after reviewing bids, awarded the meeting-room flooring replacement at the Fire Hall to Scranton Flooring (motion by Kimmel, second by Classen). The trustees also discussed an option to purchase the lot south of the village park on Wills Street but voted to postpone further action pending clarification of how many feet of the lot would be sold (motion to postpone by Miller, second by Classen; roll call all yea).

The board received routine staff reports and then approved the submitted bills for payment (motion by Tyler Classen, second by Sarah Kimmel; roll call all yea).

The meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
