Park County commissioners approved a set of routine but consequential administrative actions Tuesday, voting unanimously on personnel, jurisdiction and appointment items.
Compensation: Commissioners approved a discretionary $311 increase to the sheriff’s discretionary wage line used to calculate deputy pay so deputies will receive a 2% cost‑of‑living adjustment. Staff explained that the discretionary wage falls outside the compensation board and that the adjustment keeps deputy calculations aligned with the county’s 2% COLA for staff.
Roadway jurisdiction: The commission accepted jurisdiction of a roadway removed from the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) system at the city of Livingston’s request so the county may transfer it to the city and allow utility work. Staff characterized the transfer as administrative and said it would not add maintenance costs to the county.
Personnel and appointments: Commissioners authorized posting to hire a part‑time Chico Green Box site attendant to replace a departing worker; they appointed Lisa Barrett as an alternate on the County Tax Appeal Board; and they approved Windrider Transit Board recommendations to appoint Heidi Barrett, Mark Mansu and Mary Beebe to that board.
Votes: Each motion was moved, seconded and passed unanimously. Commissioners recorded aye votes for each item; no no or abstain votes were recorded in the meeting transcript.
Next steps: Staff will proceed with hiring and administrative transfers as appropriate; Lisa Barrett will serve as an alternate on tax appeal hearings and the Windrider Transit Board nominees will take seats per the transit board recommendation.
