"We look forward to your decision today," Chan said.
Several Garden Basin residents spoke during the public‑comment period. Evelyn Johnson said she largely supports the plan but cautioned that some objectives, particularly broad community goals, could be interpreted as extending beyond the plan’s mapped boundary. "Some objectives on the plan do not easily fit within the discretionary boundary and should not be constrained by that boundary," she said, urging clarity on what the plan will and will not direct the county to do.
Other speakers from Gardiner asked for greater opportunity for in‑person participation in Gardiner, noting timing and travel barriers for working residents. "I would like to request that you postpone this discussion until you hold this meeting in Gardiner so we can actually have people that will be affected by this plan participate," Sabina Strouds said.
Commissioners described extensive outreach by the Gardiner steering committee, including postcards and multiple meetings. Commissioner Vermillion said reducing the plan boundary to the Gardiner Resort tax district addressed significant concerns. Commissioner Story said he has attended meetings over several years and supports adopting the plan if it reflects what Gardiner wants.
A motion to adopt the resolution passed unanimously. Chair closed by thanking participants for their engagement and the steering committee for its outreach.
