CCRPC checks legislative priorities and says Regional Dispatch could be operational in about a year

At the July 6 Executive Committee meeting, Executive Director Charlie Baker reviewed the commission’s Policy Participation Topics in advance of the FY23 legislative session and said only a few changes were needed to the list that will be shared at the July 16 board meeting.
Baker said the following items were removed from the list because they were accomplished during FY22: project-specific tax increment financing (TIF), the rental safety/registry bill, and regional dispatch start-up funding. On Regional Dispatch specifically, Baker said multiple funding sources — federal, state and contributions from individual towns — are coming forward and that, "assuming the start-up cost gap is closed, it will be operational approximately one year from now."
Mike O’Brien asked for clarification about the Regional Dispatch status; staff reaffirmed the funding mix and timeline estimate. The committee did not adopt new legislative positions at the meeting; the packet with the policy topics will be distributed to the full board for discussion at the July meeting.
