Canal Winchester’s council adopted an ordinance approving the city’s 2026 street maintenance and sidewalk program contract with Strawer Paving Company.
Construction Director Bill Sims told council the low bidder returned competitive numbers well under the engineer’s estimate and that staff selected two contract alternates to add work if pricing allowed. Finance Director Amanda Jackson confirmed the city budgeted $1.5 million for the street program and the bid results left the city with some budget flexibility to incorporate alternates or other needs.
Council voted to waive additional readings, advance the ordinance and adopt it by roll call during the meeting. The contract award and adoption keep the street program schedule on track and allow staff to finalize the scope with the awarded contractor.
Staff said the award follows a routine low‑bid procurement; work scheduling and specific streets included in the program will be finalized under the contract and through existing public works processes.
Council recorded the vote to adopt the ordinance; there was no substantive debate after the presentation.
