At its April 14 meeting the Trenton Parks and Recreation Board formally acknowledged the resignation of board member Miss Hatter and voted to enter executive session to discuss appointing an alternate to serve the remainder of the term.
The board recognized three alternates—Donna Fields, Henry Root and Timothy Phillips—and discussed whether to hold confidential interviews; members agreed executive session was appropriate and then approved a motion by Miss Lucas, seconded by Miss D, to adjourn into executive session for the appointment discussion. Roll call on the motion recorded unanimous support and the public meeting was adjourned into executive session.
Staff provided a series of event updates and volunteer requests. Earth Day/Arbor Day will be Saturday, April 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at Community Park; volunteers, student groups, seven popup vendors, three food trucks and recycling/donation drop-offs are scheduled. Springfest requires 57 volunteer shifts for inflatables and other attractions and vendor applications will close May 22. Parade registration for the "Let Freedom Boom" event is live on the city website with a June 1 application deadline; organizers reported 20 confirmed parade groups so far. The board also discussed raffle-basket fundraising and confirmed advance collection of baskets for the veterans memorial effort.
Next steps: the board went into executive session to consider an appointment; staff will post event volunteer sign-up links and continue vendor outreach and raffle organization.
