City reports progress on municipal building, elevated water tower and park projects

City Manager Nichols told council the municipal building foundation and block work are underway, the elevated water tower foundation was poured, splash pad drainage and pressure testing are pending, and guardrail materials and a proposed Trenton Dog Park sign are in process.
City Manager Nichols gave a detailed project update covering multiple capital and park projects.
Nichols said municipal building foundation footers have been installed and block laying has begun in interior areas including the locker room, storm shelter and detention/jail area; interior plumbing, a sanitary sewer lateral and portions of the water main loop (about 50%) are in place. Exterior conduit work is progressing and a crane will be on site soon to begin erecting exterior wall panels.
He reported that Edgewood Drive storm structures and piping are complete and the street cut‑out was performed, with Duke Energy scheduled to install crossover conduits before curb and asphalt work begins. Barrett Paving has been called and will perform off‑site improvements; Duke has relocated electric poles on Wayne Madison Road related to the project.
On parks, Nichols said the splash pad drainage system is installed and the detention area seeded and strawed, with pressure testing of water service and installation of the valving panel to follow as weather permits. Materials have been ordered for guardrails at the Community Park parking lot and Robinson Fence has been contacted for scheduling. The city plans to place a sign designating a future Trenton Dog Park on the former Humane Society property on Trenton Road and is awaiting fence quotes to bring to the parks board for discussion.
Nichols also said the elevated water tower foundation footers and rebar are in place and that foundation pouring had been completed, with the project expected to go vertical soon. Most of these items were presented as construction updates; no final council votes were taken during the work session.
