The Canal Winchester Landmarks Commission on Feb. 23 approved Certificate of Appropriateness #CA-26-003 to install a new hanging sign for Suite B at 60 East Waterloo Street.
Applicant Christine Buchanan, who was present at the meeting, described the sign as a 22-by-31-inch sheet of solid aluminum with vinyl graphics and said it will be mounted on a decorative twisted-iron-look bracket centered on the gable; she said the size mirrors the neighboring business and that she will place an A-frame sign outside when her business is open to aid visibility from the road.
Commission member Patrick Lynch expressed concern the sign might be too small to read from the road; Rich Dobda asked whether the sign would be solid aluminum or composite and was told the applicant intends it to be solid aluminum to avoid curling over time. Pete Lynch moved to approve the application as presented; Vice-Chairman David Craycraft seconded the motion, which carried 5-0.
