Mayor Steager told Canal Winchester City Council on March 2 that the city, in partnership with Destination Canal Winchester, released a Request for Qualifications seeking marketing firms to help “strengthen and promote Canal Winchester as a vibrant destination.” Submissions are due March 15; staff will review qualifications by the end of March with a goal to select a firm by the end of the April council meeting.
Steager said the city will assist Destination Canal Winchester in promoting the RFQ. Finance Director Jackson later told council that an appropriation amendment will appear at the next meeting to appropriate the funds the city plans to contribute toward the marketing initiative.
Council member Richard Moore asked whether the city would also be promoting the RFQ in addition to Destination Canal Winchester; Steager responded that the city will assist in promotion. The meeting record does not specify the size of the city contribution or the total project budget; Jackson said appropriation details will be presented with the amendment.
