Landmarks Commission approves garden shed and picket fence at 40 East Waterloo Street

On Feb. 23 the Canal Winchester Landmarks Commission approved Certificate of Appropriateness #CA-26-005 for work at 40 East Waterloo Street, authorizing an 8-by-12-foot garden shed between the lot and the alley, a 4-foot picket fence, a concrete sidewalk and replacement of a gravel parking area with asphalt or concrete.
Applicant Mark Caulk told the commission the drawings are dimensioned correctly and said the proposed shed will be white with a standing-seam metal roof, one set of carriage-style doors and exterior lighting (details of the lighting were not yet specified). He said there will be a 1-foot space to the west of the new fence to allow neighbors easier vehicle access.
Patrick Lynch moved to approve the application as presented; the motion, seconded by Vice-Chairman David Craycraft, carried 5-0.
Commission records show a similar shed had been approved in 2019 but was never installed; staff noted prior approval in their review.
