Tremont Select Board approves truck purchase and several town contracts; discusses public safety building

At its Sept. 15 meeting, the Tremont Select Board unanimously authorized purchase of a 2026 Dodge 550 chassis and body for a plow truck, awarded contracts for winter sand and heating oil, approved warrants and tentatively adopted General Assistance appendices pending a public hearing.
At a Sept. 15 meeting in the Tremont Town Office Harvey Kelley Meeting Room, the Tremont Select Board unanimously approved several routine purchases and contract awards and discussed the possible purchase of a public safety building without taking action.
Select Board member Kevin Buck moved to authorize the town manager to buy a 2026 Dodge 550 chassis from Quirk for $67,989 and to include a steel body from Allied for up to $13,000; Select Board member Eric Eaton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Town Manager Jesse Dunbar will oversee the purchase and outfitting.
The board awarded the FY26 winter sand contract to Doug Gott & Sons at $10.80 per cubic yard and approved the 2025–2026 heating oil contract with Coastal Energy at $2.47 per gallon. Both actions passed unanimously. The board also authorized advertising five surplus windows for sale by sealed bid and approved FY26 warrants #24–#29 with listed amounts: #24 $1,360.30; #25 $17,837.68; #26 $137,502.03; #27 $5,855.00; #28 $37,141.14; and #29 $17,226.71.
On administrative matters, the board voted to tentatively adopt Appendices A–H of the General Assistance Ordinance for Oct. 1, 2025–Sept. 30, 2026, pending a public hearing scheduled for Oct. 6, 2025. Select Board member Kevin Buck made the motion to adopt and sign the appendices pending that hearing; the motion passed unanimously.
The board discussed a potential purchase of a public safety building at 37 Harbor Drive but did not make a motion or take formal action on the property. Town Manager Jesse Dunbar raised the item for discussion; no purchase authorization was made at the meeting.
The board voted to enter an executive session under 1 MRSA 405.6.A to discuss personnel matters and invited Town Attorney James Collier into the executive session. The Select Board entered executive session at 6:07 p.m. and closed it at 7:05 p.m.; the transcript records no open-session motions taken as a result of that executive session.
Town Manager Jesse Dunbar gave a brief verbal report on town employees' recent activities. The board confirmed its next regular meeting for Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Office and adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
