Tremont Select Board withdraws from Harbor Drive purchase, approves RFQ for public safety building study

The Tremont Select Board voted unanimously Thursday to withdraw from a purchase-and-sale agreement for properties at 31 and 37 Harbor Drive and to seek engineering bids for a study of a future public safety building.

Select Board member Eric Eaton moved to withdraw from the agreement with property owner Michael A. Wagner and to compensate Wagner $1,500 for his time and aggravation; the motion was seconded by Select Board member Howard Goodwin and passed unanimously. Later, Select Board member Kevin Buck moved, and Eaton seconded, approval of a Request for Quote (RFQ) for an engineering study for the Public Safety Building; that motion also passed unanimously.

The RFQ was presented to the board as the next step in analyzing options for a permanent public safety facility that would serve the town’s fire and ambulance services.
