West Fork council hears police, library and parks updates; tables Mineco contract and adopts financial-policy manual

The West Fork City Council heard department reports covering policing, the library, parks, fire and public works, and handled several housekeeping agenda items at its meeting.
Police: Chief Alberton reported 255 calls for service in November, 29 reports, 25 citations, 40 warnings, 30 warrants, one felony arrest and two misdemeanor arrests. "Calls for service is down from 420 this time last year," Chief Alberton said, and he updated the council on vehicle reassignments and equipment installations.
Library and events: Marie reported the library’s circulation numbers were down after a temporary closure to investigate a smell that required bathroom remediation, while story-time attendance remained high. She announced a cookie exchange on Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. and a school-partnered art show opening Jan. 17 that will run through Feb. 1.
Parks and fire: Director Harrison thanked volunteers, vendors and churches for the Christmas parade and tree-lighting events and said participation appeared strong compared with prior years. Fire department staff noted a new truck was added to the fleet and that longtime employee Mark will retire; a retirement reception is scheduled Dec. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the fire department.
Public Works: Isaac reported progress fixing several water leaks, including work in front of the bank.
Contracts and policy: The council did not receive the Mineco contract for decommissioning the step system at Homestead in time and voted to table the contract until a later meeting. The council reviewed and approved a financial policy and procedure manual prepared by Christie; members praised the document’s clarity and value for audits and transparency.
