Council appoints and swears in Anthony Foster to vacant seat

The West Fork City Council unanimously appointed Anthony Foster to its vacant council seat and administered the oath of office during its regular meeting.
Mayor recommended Foster for the vacancy and a motion to appoint him received a second; the council approved the motion by voice vote. After the vote the mayor administered the oath; Foster repeated, “I Anthony Foster do hereby solemnly swear … that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Arkansas and will faithfully discharge the duties of alderman of the City of West Fork.”
Council members present for the roll call included Misty Coddle, Jeff Upton, Jan Throgmorton, Marty Linderberry, John Collins, Dena McNight and Don Rollins. The mayor said he would skip a formal introduction because many in the chamber already know Foster and noted Foster’s service on the school board and prior work on the parks committee.
The appointment was handled as new business and the council moved on to other agenda items. No additional conditions or term length were specified in the meeting discussion.
