Red Hook board awards $64,500 electrical contract and approves $108,200 task order for Water District No. 1 tank project

The Town Board of the Town of Red Hook voted June 9 to award the electrical contract and approve professional services for the Water District No. 1 water storage tank rehabilitation project.
Supervisor Robert McKeon introduced Resolution No. 28, which the board said identified Hewitt Young Electric LLC as the lowest eligible bidder for the project’s electrical work at $64,500. The resolution authorizes the Supervisor to execute a contract in substantially the form provided by the bid specifications, contingent on the contractor providing the required certificate of insurance, bonds and other documentation.
The board also approved Resolution No. 29, accepting Task Order 2026‑01 with Tighe & Bond (T&B Engineering) for engineering services related to the tank rehabilitation, in an amount not to exceed $108,200. Brandee Nelson, representing Tighe & Bond, reviewed the task order during the meeting and noted related bid-review issues.
Both resolutions passed on roll call votes with four ayes (Supervisor Robert McKeon; Councilmembers Kristina Dousharm, Kenneth Migliorelli and Jacob Testa). Councilmember William Hamel was recorded as absent. The electrical contract resolution cites that public bids were solicited and opened in accordance with Section 103 of the New York General Municipal Law.
Supervisor McKeon said the electrical award is subject to the contractor meeting the insurance and bonding requirements in the bid specifications. During the review, Nelson said some electrical bidders had not separated general and electrical work as required by the bid documents, prompting additional scrutiny before final award.
Next steps: the Supervisor is authorized to execute the contract documents when the successful bidder provides the required insurance, bonds and other documentation. The board did not set a further timeline for construction at the June 9 meeting.
