The West Memphis Utility Commission approved the minutes from its March 13 meeting, then reviewed and approved a landscaping and building-front improvement project that had been budgeted for up to $140,000.
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Mr. Burns and seconded by Mrs. Brown; the minutes were adopted. Later in the meeting Mr. Burns moved and Mr. Brown seconded a motion to approve the low bidder for the landscaping contract (the bidder identified in the meeting packet as Grinder Taber TG). Commissioners were told the work includes irrigation, electrical upgrades, a new back‑lit sign with a brick face and parking-lot restriping; staff said the project came in under the $140,000 budgeted amount. The commission voted to approve the low bid and authorized staff to forward the contract to the city council for final approval.
Commissioners also heard a brief report that three companies submitted proposals after seven attended the pre-bid meeting. Staff said the landscaping work is intended to be completed by mid-summer to allow plantings to establish during the growing season.
A motion to adjourn was made, seconded and the meeting ended.
