Zeeland — City staff told the Zoning Board of Appeals on April 21 that a site plan for a Mead Johnson modernization at 725 E. Main Avenue has been submitted and that the Planning Commission will review site‑plan elements at its May 11 meeting.
Zoning Administrator Timothy Maday said staff and consultant Paul LeBlanc of PLB Planning reversed the usual review order because landscaping, screening, and access points fall primarily under Planning Commission jurisdiction and because the project’s scale is likely to draw public interest. Maday said this approach is intended to provide a more complete plan record before the ZBA would consider any variance requests tied to the project.
If the project comes before the Zoning Board of Appeals, members can expect to review any dimensional or use variances after the Planning Commission completes its site‑plan review. No specific variance applications were submitted to the ZBA at the April 21 meeting, and no public comment on the Mead Johnson project was recorded at the ZBA session.
