Southeast Expo Center director: PSO to bring fiber and electrical upgrades in 'million‑dollar' project; arena AC issues persist

Ragan said Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) will bring fiber and ethernet to the banquet rooms and classrooms, upgrade 15‑amp outlets to 20‑amp in those spaces, and provide cell‑phone boosters to the building as part of an agreement to support an emergency hub. "This project is estimated to be a million‑dollar upgrade to the facility," Ragan told the board in her director's report. She said PSO will also change light fixtures to LED under a summer program that includes rebates and partial reimbursement.
Ragan reported that Art's Electric completed wiring in the kitchen and concession areas and that Malcolm Mechanical had repaired some arena AC units but found two arena units whose control panels or motherboards are not covered by warranty because the units were not registered. She said Carrier was expected to provide cost estimates for replacement parts. Ragan also asked for quotes to remove carpet and stain concrete in two banquet rooms and requested quotes to level the arena floor for basketball.
Ragan gave an events update: the first PAWS clinic in Verner #2 was successful, Gospel Fest took place over the weekend with limited attendance but positive feedback for catering, and the Lowdown TV show will return and provide payment for the trash trailer. She listed multiple upcoming uses of the facility including data center meetings, watch parties, tactical training, film crews, weddings, bingo and birthday parties.
The board recorded the director's report in the minutes and directed staff to obtain requested estimates; no separate vote was required for the informational report.
