Main Street and Chamber representatives updated the council on local economic- and community-development activities, including a new Broadway food park and plans for a May food-truck festival.
A Main Street representative (Raymond) described recent community events and the new food park: a mural by artist Kristin Sandlin, safety fencing provided by West Memphis Fence, additional seating and picnic tables, porta-potties and a wash station to be serviced regularly, and power hookups still to be finalized. "We're thinking by the 1st of May, if not sooner," the presenter said for the park opening.
The park team expects up to 12 vendor spots and has set a $5 sampler-price requirement for festival vendors so visitors can sample multiple trucks; the May 17 festival will include two bands and is free to attend. Organizers said vendors who sign up for the festival will receive a permit valid for 365 days to encourage repeat visits.
Chamber reports described membership growth, new executive director Stephanie White, outreach metrics and upcoming programming, and the Chamber noted marketing and leadership programs underway.
Next steps: finalize utility hookups and vendor registration logistics; continue promotion for the May festival and plan a ribbon-cutting for the food park opening.
