During its June 10 meeting the McCrory City Council heard routine departmental reports and handled several noncontroversial administrative items.
Mayor Jackson announced McCrory Day on June 29 with a morning parade and encouraged the public to attend. He also said materials for the dog pound have been delivered and should be installed within the week. Staff reported the water-quality report is available at the Water Department for anyone who wishes to review it with Jennifer.
The Police Department reported May court collections of $13,990, six felony arrests and 104 misdemeanor cases; the department said several pieces of stolen property have been recovered and that one patrol car is in the shop awaiting dealership diagnostics. The Fire Department reported a successful Mosquitofest fish fry, recent hose testing that may require future hose replacement and that Act 833 funds are incoming. Animal Control said there are currently 19 dogs at the pound and that TAPS has an interested party for a mother dog and puppies. Parks staff said replacement doors for the concession stand and bathrooms at Elizabeth Swanson Park remain pending because the doors arrived in three different sizes.
Mayor Jackson said he has spoken with an Entergy representative about adding street lights on East Raney and asked council members to send him recommended locations. The council approved routine items including the previous meeting's minutes, payment of bills and council pay. The meeting adjourned at 8:42 p.m.
