Nominations for council president followed; after roll-call votes Derek Puchta secured the majority and will serve as council president in 2026.
Council discussed boards and committees, emphasizing that many bodies meet “as needed,” require public notice (at least 48 hours where applicable), and must produce minutes. Mayor Tyler Bame said meetings without minutes would be treated as if they did not occur. Council approved the 2026 appointments, including Bill Conley to the Board of Zoning Appeals; Stephanie Wade to Parks & Recreation and the Beautification Committee; Evaristo Hernandez to the Planning Commission; Brent Bleam to the Tree and Finance Committees; Derek Puchta to the Oversight and Mayor’s Planning Committee; and Bob Styer to Audit and Enterprise Zone committees.
A motion to approve the 2026 committee/board list passed by roll call: Hernandez, Conley, Bleam, Puchta, and Wade — yes (5); no (0); abstain (0).
