Wanaque council approves consent agenda, awards water-main contract and clears staffing actions

At its April 27 meeting the Wanaque Mayor and Council approved a grouped consent agenda (Resolutions #2026-116 through #2026-140) covering administrative housekeeping, personnel actions, vendor agreements and infrastructure procurement.

- Resolution #2026-130: Award of Water Main Improvements on Argyle Road, Rockridge Road and Norman Court to M.S.P. Construction Corp., the lowest qualified bidder, in the amount of $380,817.10. Boswell, Inc. prepared design and quantities; bids opened March 31, 2026.
- Personnel actions: appointment of new firefighters (Riley Golczewski; Connor Paller; junior firefighter Kevin Costello), appointment of police officers Jake DeVore and Brody McCormack (effective April 27, 2026), acceptance of the resignation of SLEO II Charlie Huber (effective March 13, 2026), hiring of part‑time dispatcher Robert W. Vita, and appointment of Special Law Enforcement Officers Class III Nicholas DaSaro III and Steven Hafner.
- Contract and vendor authorizations: Resolution authorizing membership renewal with the New Jersey Intergovernmental Insurance Fund; Resolution #2026-123 authorizing a Valley Health System agreement to provide alcohol and drug testing services (term July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028); and authorization to use Service Tire Truck Center under state contract through December 31, 2026.
- Administrative and financial housekeeping: a set of reserve cancellations and credits for veteran tax exemptions and tax-sale premium forfeiture; authorization to sell property no longer needed for public use via online auction; and adoption of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund Fourth Round Spending Plan (Resolution #2026-139) and Affirmative Marketing Plan (Resolution #2026-140).
All consent items were approved by unanimous roll call (Yes: Balunis, Cortellessa, Kronyak, Leonard, Pasquariello, Pettet; No: none), and the bill list (Resolution #2026-144) was authorized.
Next steps: the water-main contract award will proceed to contracting and construction scheduling; department heads and the finance office will carry out the personnel appointments and financial actions recorded in the resolutions.
