Board directs search for new city administrator; director raises lost investment concern
Summary
After recessing to executive session on personnel, the board returned with no action but directed staff and the city attorney to begin a search for a new city administrator and update the job description and contract. During directors’ reports, Director Brad said the city lost a proposed $30 million investment from HBF Foods that would have created 50–100 jobs; the comment was a director’s assertion and not a formal board action.

The Siloam Springs Board of Directors recessed into executive session on Aug. 19 to discuss personnel matters. After returning to open session the board announced no formal action had been taken but directed the mayor and staff to solicit search firms to run a recruitment for a new city administrator and to work with the city attorney to revise the job description and contract.
During directors’ reports, Director Brad read a prepared statement regarding an economic-development matter. He said the community had lost a proposed $30 million investment by HBF Foods that would have provided "50 to 100 new jobs with benefits," and that the fifth reading of the matter failed. The statement asserted HBF Foods had addressed concerns raised by citizens; no response or formal discussion of that claim occurred on the public record at the meeting.
The board adjourned following the personnel announcement and directors’ reports.
