Councilors press for salary and program breakdowns ahead of school budget presentation

Another member encouraged the public to attend the school board’s public town‑hall–style review, where line items and wages are discussed.
City Manager Bill said the school board will present a preliminary budget draft at its Feb. 11 meeting and reminded councilors that testimony and comment can be submitted by Zoom or email. Councilors agreed to attend the school board process to learn and to consider the municipal implications of proposed school expenditures.
No formal action was taken by the council at the Feb. 2 meeting; members said they will review the school budget documents once published and expect to see detailed line items in advance of council-level budget votes.
