The Siloam Springs Board of Directors on Aug. 19 adopted two rezoning ordinances affecting residential lots along Sherry Whitlock Drive and East Lake Francis Drive.
Megan Thomas, current planner, said ordinance 25-26 would rezone about 2.16 acres in the 900 block of Sherry Whitlock Drive from R2 (residential medium) to GI (general institutional). Thomas said staff had not received any changes or additional comments since the first reading; the applicant indicated the site will serve the Simmons Clinic. At the applicant’s request, the board suspended the rules to combine the second and third readings and approved the ordinance by roll call. The board later voted on adoption and approved ordinance 25-26.
Thomas also presented ordinance 25-27, a request to rezone 7.37 acres in the 1200 block of East Lake Francis Drive from R2 to C2 (roadway commercial). There were no public comments on the item and the board approved the ordinance on second reading and adopted it by roll call.
Zach Hixon, the project agent with Sitewise Civil Engineering, asked the board to combine readings for ordinance 25-26; staff confirmed no new comments had been received since the prior reading. Both ordinances passed during the meeting.
