Jourdanton council directs ordinance changes for H.B. 2844, tables AEP participation and pollinator-garden proposal

At its May 4 meeting the Jourdanton City Council directed the city attorney to update municipal ordinances related to mobile food vendors and food service establishments to account for H.B. 2844. Mayor Pro Tem Chester Gonzales made the motion and Councilmember Katrina Wiatrek seconded; the council asked that revised language return at the June meeting for further consideration.
On a separate agenda item, Councilmember Pamela Manning moved and Councilmember Karen Pesek seconded to table a resolution that would authorize the city’s participation in AEP Texas Inc.’s petition to amend Rider Mobile Temporary Emergency Electric Energy Facilities (TEEEF) before the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Councilmembers asked that a company representative be present at the May 18 meeting to answer questions; the motion passed unanimously.
The council also considered a proposed Pollinator/Bee & Butterfly Garden at Jourdanton City Park. Councilmember Karen Pesek moved to table that item until May 18; Councilmember Raul Morales seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Finally, Mayor Pro Tem Chester Gonzales moved and Councilmember Pamela Manning seconded approval of the 2026–2027 Budget Calendar; the motion was approved in the meeting minutes. No substantive ordinance language changes or a schedule for the H.B. 2844 amendments were provided in the minutes.
