City announces new water website, library donation and parks work ahead of May events

Sulphur Springs announced a new water department website with training underway, reported denial of a water meter grant, said Altrusa donated $1,000 to the library and described park commission preparations for a May farmers market and trail work beginning May 1.
At the March 19 meeting Nicky announced the city water website is live and that the first of two staff trainings has been completed; the city will promote the site after the second training is finished. Nicky also told the council that the water meter grant the city applied for was denied.
Carrie reported for Melinda that the library met its goal for the year through a Souper fundraiser and that Altrusa donated $1,000 this year for books. The museum commission reported no updates.
Bill Medley said the park commission is focusing on a farmers market scheduled to open in May and is exploring improvements to camping and RV sites; the commission is coordinating with Fish and Game on lake and koi pond improvements. Work on the Great Strides Trail will begin May 1, and Wood Avenue and Mountain Road have been reopened after graveling and smoothing.
