Public works director reports AWOS issues, RFP for land leases; board lists fence and airshow for future agendas

Public Works Director Shannon Easley told the Airport Advisory Board on May 18 that airport lights and signage are functioning but that the AWOS has a partial NOTAM and its broadcast is unreliable, and she described ongoing maintenance and planning work.
Easley reported the airfield had been mowed once and herbicide applied around lights and the fence row. She said staff is continuing work with engineering firm Garver to develop a request for proposals for four land-lease lots.
During the board's requests for future agenda items members listed a follow-up update on the Airport Layout Master Plan; a discussion, consideration and possible recommendation on installing 3,750 feet of 8-foot-high fencing along the airport's east side; an update on the planned Thunder Over East Texas Airshow; and discussion of feedback from City Council on the Garver study.
No formal action on the AWOS reliability, land leases, fence or airshow was taken at the meeting. The board adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
