The Athens Economic Development Corporation on May 29 approved a $2,442.75 business assistance grant to Square Fairways to replace a back entrance door.
Elizabeth Borstad, city manager, said the application required clarification about use of the entrance; an owner for Square Fairways clarified the entrance is used by members and additional parking is available behind the building. Director Robert Hoover moved to approve the grant, Director Traci Wilkes seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The grant covers 75% of qualified expenditures for the door replacement, according to the board action. No additional conditions, timelines, or follow-up reporting requirements were specified in the minutes. The board adjourned the special session at 8:10 a.m.
