Sulphur Springs council adopts 2026 budget, approves ordinance on city attorney insurance and new business license in unanimous votes

The Sulphur Springs City Council on Jan. 15 unanimously adopted Resolution 26-001, approving the proposed budgets for the 2026 calendar year. The resolution was presented by Carolyn Hazzard and read by Recorder/Treasurer Paul Gregory by title only; Councilmember Bill Medley moved to accept the resolution and Wes Hendren seconded. The motion passed with all members voting in favor.
The council also read Ordinance 26-001 by title only; the ordinance, which provides municipal insurance to the city attorney as a non-employee at no cost to the city, was moved for acceptance by Medley with Hendren seconding and also passed unanimously. Both measures were approved under routine procedure motions the council established for 2026 to read resolutions and ordinances by title only and, when unanimous, to read them once.
Council members approved a new city business license for Lynn Howard to operate at 221 Spring St. Wes Hendren moved to approve the license; Bill Medley seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
