Planning board approves Jonathan Law High School addition with minor engineering conditions

The Milford Planning and Zoning Board on June 16 approved a coastal site plan submitted by the city and the Board of Education for additions to Jonathan Law High School.
Will Walter, a professional engineer with Alfred Ben Company, told the board the project consists of a new academic wing of about 6,800 square feet and a roughly 1,000-square-foot entry vestibule and that the application is consistent with coastal use policies. "There was no identification of potential adverse impacts on coastal resources or water dependent uses," Walter said, and the city engineer had only minor technical comments.
Planning staff summarized the application and the city engineer's review, saying the recommended changes are technical in nature and can be imposed as conditions of approval. David Sulkus, planning staff, told the board the engineer’s review dated 6/5/26 lists items A through D as minor updates; staff recommended including those as conditions.
A motion to approve the petition for coastal area site plan review was moved and seconded; a roll call recorded six members voting with the motion and the board declared the motion passed. The approval specifies that the city engineer’s recommended minor updates be incorporated into the permit as conditions.
The board did not identify any adverse coastal impacts in its action. The permit holder and project team will need to satisfy the stated technical clarifications before final permits are issued.
