Bettendorf Council approves final year of alley rehabilitation program

The Bettendorf City Council unanimously approved a resolution on June 16 to adopt the plan, specifications and form of contract for the 2026 alley rehabilitation program, the final year of a multi-year effort to repair alleys in poor condition.
Public works staff member Brian told the council, “Since 2016, the City Council has provided about 450,000 dollars to this program.” He said a change to an asphalt profile allowed the city to complete five to eight alley segments per year instead of the prior one-per-year concrete approach and that the program will reach about 65 seal-coated or asphalt alleys when finished.
Council Member Baden moved the resolution to approve the plan and contract form; it was seconded and approved by unanimous roll call. No public comments or written correspondence were received on this item during the public hearing.
The approved resolution provides the administrative authority for staff to advertise and execute the contract under the plan specifications adopted by the council.
