Regional planners outline joint comprehensive-plan update and schedule town halls across Warner Robins area

Greg Boyy of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission told Warner Robins city council on June 15 that the joint comprehensive plan update — required every five years and due in February 2027 — is in the public-listening phase.
The presentation laid out subject areas covered by the plan (economic development, workforce, transportation, land use, public safety, parks and culture) and the public participation schedule. Town halls for jobs and housing, transportation and land use, public safety and public works, and arts/recreation/culture were scheduled across venues including Warner Robins City Hall, the Houston County Annex, Centerville City Hall, Central Georgia Technical College and the Northston Sports Complex with dates through August 2026.
Boyy emphasized that every piece of public input will be recorded and used to inform steering committee meetings and the short-term community work program that lists specific projects the city would pursue over the next five years. He noted the online survey had gathered nearly 600 responses at the time of the meeting and encouraged more residents to take it via a QR code distributed at the meeting.
Why it matters: the comprehensive plan influences where state and federal funding may be targeted and sets priorities for land use, transportation investments and public facilities across city and county jurisdictions.
Next steps: staff, the regional commission and the steering committee will continue public meetings through August; council members will receive invitations to steering meetings and staff will return with drafts as the process progresses.
