Athens EDC approves Frentress Engineering agreements for industrial park surveying and downtown parking design
Summary
The Board authorized the president to sign a performance agreement with Frentress Engineering to survey and map vacant industrial park land and separately approved a design agreement for angled downtown parking along North Prairieville.
The Athens Economic Development Corporation voted May 19 to authorize engineering services with Frentress Engineering for two separate projects: surveying and boundary work for vacant land in the Industrial Park, and a design for angled-in parking along North Prairieville between the railroad and West Tyler Street.
City Manager Elizabeth Borstad recommended using a local firm to perform surveying, topographic mapping and boundary marking for vacant industrial park parcels to help advance marketing and development. The Board approved a performance agreement to begin those services.
Separately, Borstad presented a proposed parking layout for downtown that would convert existing curbside areas to angled-in parking along North Prairieville; the Board approved entering a design agreement with Frentress for that work. Both motions passed unanimously.
The contracts will allow staff to proceed with design and property documentation necessary for future construction or marketing of industrial sites and to finalize the downtown parking concept for public input and construction planning.
