The Athens Economic Development Corporation Board accepted the April 2026 financial report and approved a quarterly reimbursement request from the City of Athens during its May 19 meeting.
Assistant City Manager Mandie Quigg told the Board that April sales tax revenue (February collections) totaled $84,492.14, down $1,937.50 (2.24%) from April 2025. Fiscal year-to-date revenues through April were $881,727.75 (about 59.57% of the annual budget). Expenditures for April were reported as $10,462.98; fiscal year-to-date expenditures plus encumbrances totaled $638,676.63, or 45.77% of budget. Cash balances across accounts totaled $8,637,869.45 as of April 30, 2026.
The Board approved the April 2026 financials by motion (motion carried unanimously). The Board also approved a City reimbursement request totaling $70,921.97 for January–March 2026 expenditures, which Ms. Quigg said included $8,916.17 in operational expenses, a $28,068.75 administrative fee, and $37,429.05 in payroll expenditures, offset by a $3,492 rental credit. That reimbursement motion carried unanimously.
The Board selected two members to serve on the FY2027 Budget Committee. Jeff Whitnah and Bryan Clemmons volunteered and were approved to serve on the two-member committee.
Next steps: staff will process the approved reimbursement and proceed with budget calendar and committee tasks for FY2027.
