Fire, police and parks reports: new hoses donated, ordinance enforcement assignment, lake and koi pond assessments

At the April 16 meeting, department heads provided routine updates. Fire Chief Josh Greer reported monthly statistics and said a donation from Benton County Stone covered the purchase of 600 feet of new hose. Police Chief Jarod Morgan read monthly police statistics and indicated that officer Matthew West will handle ordinance enforcement matters going forward.
On parks, Nicky reported that Benton County extension services assessed the city lake and koi pond. The extension service recommended additional underwater structure for fish habitat in the lake and advised draining the lake only every three years. The koi pond requires annual emptying and cleaning. The park commission is planning a project to clean out and possibly rebuild the volleyball court, and the Farmer’s Market is scheduled to begin May 2.
Recorder/Treasurer and Street Department reported no updates at the meeting.
