The Asylum Springs Planning Commission voted unanimously Oct. 14 to recommend approval of rezoning request RZ25-11, moving roughly 6.2 acres along East Highway 412 from A1 (agriculture) to C2 (roadway commercial).
Planner Kyle described the site as vacant parcels in the 3800–3900 block of East Highway 412, across Sylum Station Drive from a recently opened McDonald’s, and said the future land use map designates the corridor as regional commercial. “The proposed C2 zoning district aligns with this request as it allows for large offices and shops in which the 2040 comprehensive plan describes as very appropriate for this area,” Kyle said. He told commissioners staff had received one request for information and no other correspondence.
Commissioners moved and seconded a recommendation for approval; a roll-call vote recorded yes votes from McKini, Sutton, Renard, K. Williams, T. Williams and Sally and the motion passed 6-0. Staff noted that the rezoning and related development permit will be scheduled for a Board of Directors hearing on Nov. 4, 2025.
