The Brush School District RE-2J board voted to raise preschool tuition for 2026–27 to $708.75 for full-time enrollment and $393.75 for part-time, and separately approved the district’s Head Start grant application for 2026–27.
Board members moved and seconded both motions; roll call votes recorded unanimous approval. Board materials and staff presenters described Head Start as being in year three of a five‑year grant cycle with only modest changes to the program. Staff told the board the district met competitive thresholds during the most recent Head Start review and highlighted areas for ongoing improvement (instructional support remains a focus area where the district scored below the quality threshold by a small margin).
Staff also reported current preschool enrollment near 130 students and that 136 children are registered for the coming year; the district said its classrooms could hold roughly 190 students if needed. The presenter noted outreach efforts (video promotion and additional registration opportunities) and that the policy council has already reviewed grant materials.
The tuition motion passed with a unanimous roll call. With the Head Start grant approved, staff said they will continue required reporting and program monitoring as the district moves into the next grant year.
