Commissioners recommend Nelson Ortega and other candidates as vacancies persist; options discussed for officer assignments

"Nelson Ortega ... is the pride coordinator for the American Latino Professionals for America group," a commissioner said, and noted Ortega's background in youth programming and communications. Another commissioner recommended Howard Alvarez as a possible future appointee if a current commissioner steps down; Alvarez was described as involved in housing and as a director of operations for community programs.
Commissioners also noted the recent resignation of Kathy Bole (effective May 30) and said they would circulate a celebration-of-life notice and continue recruiting to ensure representation in areas such as aging and housing. The commission agreed to discuss formal appointment of new commissioners to officer roles (secretary, treasurer, outreach) once seats are filled.
