Milford to close CIB funding and reduce wastewater project cost after low bids

As a result, staff said the city will reduce both the loan and the grant request by roughly $400,000 each, which will lower the city’s repayment burden. Cheshire Contracting has executed all documents and the city expects to close on CIB funding on June 25.
The city explained the funding mechanics: the loan is used up front and the grant is applied after construction; lower bids will preserve the 50/50 grant split originally anticipated. Staff said construction can begin as soon as CIB closes and estimated the work on the lift station should be finished within a few months rather than years.
