Brimfield Township trustees unanimously accept inventories, a $50 donation and transfer a Chevy Trax to the fire department

The Brimfield Township Board of Trustees met on Jan. 12, 2026, at the Brimfield Townhall and unanimously approved a set of routine administrative items, including acceptance of departmental inventories, approval of purchase orders, acceptance of a $50 donation to the fire department and the transfer of a Parks & Recreation Chevrolet Trax to the fire department.
Trustee Nicholas Coia called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Trustees Nicholas Coia, Kevin Scott and Sue Fields and Fiscal Officer Jasmine Golden were recorded as present.
Trustee Sue Fields reported she had received a letter from Pastor Whetzel of Victory Baptist Church stating that “he will no longer be able to lead the prayer at the trustee meetings due to the time change.” The note was presented as an announcement and no action was taken.
The trustees amended the agenda to add consideration of the fire donation (MOTION #2025-049). Trustee Kevin Scott moved the amendment, Sue Fields seconded, and the motion passed on a 3-0 roll call (Coia, Fields and Scott voting yea).
Trustee Sue Fields moved to approve purchase orders; Kevin Scott seconded and the motion passed unanimously (MOTION #2026-050). The board then accepted inventory packets from Administration (MOTION #2025-051), the Fire Department (MOTION #2025-052), the Police Department (MOTION #2025-053) and the Road Department (MOTION #2025-054). Each acceptance was moved and seconded and each motion passed with the recorded votes in favor by Trustees Coia, Fields and Scott.
On a separate item, Trustee Kevin Scott moved to accept a $50.00 donation to the fire department; Sue Fields seconded. The motion passed 3-0 (MOTION #2025-055).
The trustees also approved two motions regarding transfer of equipment from Parks & Recreation: first to amend the agenda to consider transferring the Parks & Recreation Chevrolet Trax to the fire department (MOTION #2025-056), and then to approve the transfer itself (MOTION #2025-057). Both motions were seconded and passed on unanimous recorded votes.
According to the meeting record, Trustee Sue Fields moved to adjourn and Kevin Scott seconded. The minutes state the roll call on adjournment passed unanimously and that the trustees signed the minutes as a true and accurate record. The transcript records the adjournment time as 7:45 AM despite the meeting opening at 7:00 PM; the minutes were corrected in this report to show the adjournment at 7:45 PM to match the meeting time and typical local practice.
