Brimfield trustees approve police union contracts and add vacation hours for chief

Brimfield Township trustees voted unanimously Jan. 20 to approve two collective bargaining agreements for the Brimfield Police Department and to amend Police Chief Roy Mosley’s employment contract to add vacation hours and adjust compensation.
Kevin Scott moved and Trustee Sue Fields seconded approval of the agreement between Brimfield Township and the Brimfield Township Patrol collective bargaining unit, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026 and continuing through Dec. 31, 2028, with the exception of Article 33. The motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote of Trustees Nicholas Coia, Sue Fields and Kevin Scott.
Trustees also approved a separate agreement with the Brimfield Township Sergeants unit on the same retroactive dates and with the same exception for Article 33; that motion likewise passed unanimously.
The board had convened in executive session under Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G) to prepare for and review negotiations with public employees on compensation and terms of employment. The executive session was called by Trustee Nicholas Coia at 7:41 p.m. and the board returned to public session at 8:06 p.m.
After returning, Trustee Nicholas Coia moved to amend Chief Roy Mosley’s 2022–2027 employment agreement to change vacation and compensation; Kevin Scott seconded. The board voted unanimously to grant Chief Mosley an additional 80 hours of vacation for his work in the administrator role and to approve the stated compensation changes in the amendment.
The meeting minutes do not specify the monetary value of the compensation change or other amended contract language beyond the added vacation hours. The approvals were recorded as formal motions with unanimous roll-call votes.
The trustees concluded the meeting with routine administrative business and adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
