Ross Township trustees approve budget amendment, contracts and grants including fire-radio funding

The Ross Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved a package of routine resolutions on Nov. 17, 2025, including a budget amendment to make a recently awarded Bureau of Workers' Compensation grant spendable and acceptance of a State Fire Marshal "Marks" grant to fund replacement mobile radios for fire vehicles.
The township fiscal officer said receipts for November totaled $126,629.52 and that the township is at about 90% of budgeted spending and revenue for the year. She told trustees the township received a Bureau of Workers' Compensation grant to purchase a Lucas compression system and asked the board to amend revenue and request an amended certificate so the funds can be spent. "Receipts totaled $126,629.52," the fiscal officer said, and moved the related revenue amendment resolution for board approval.
The board also approved a resolution to enter a professional services agreement for inspections of township sewage treatment systems (resolution 2025-073), and adopted an amendment to the township's agreement with Mercy Occupational Health to add annual queries through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration clearinghouse for CDL holders (resolution 2025-074).
Trustees adopted the 2026 Ross Township holiday schedule (resolution 2025-075) and declared a property on Robin Avenue a nuisance, authorizing abatement (resolution 2025-076). Each motion received a second and passed on roll-call votes.
The fire department reported it received a State Fire Marshal Marks grant totaling $32,987.45 to buy new mobile radios for nearly all apparatus. A fire department representative explained the award will cover mobile radios (covering about 98% of units for mobile radios) but not the hand-portable radios carried by personnel. "It's 100% for the mobile radios," the representative said, noting portables will need replacement later.
On procurement, the township administrator told trustees that a bid opening for residential solid waste and recycling produced only a single bid from the vendor listed in the packet; Energy Alliances has the bid copy and will review it and advise whether to bring the award back to the board for approval.
All votes on the listed resolutions were unanimous. The board also approved payment of bills presented through the fiscal officer's certification (motion 25-141).
