All votes to schedule hearings and approve corrections passed unanimously, 7-0.
Town Clerk Elizabeth N. Graves introduced a requested correction to the Holy Redeemer Church LUO amendment (LUO Amendment #2026-01) and the Council amended the order to specify the March 17, 2026 public hearing and to present the warrant article language as: “Shall an ordinance, dated February 4, 2026, and entitled ‘An Amendment to amend the Official Neighborhood Districts Map by rezoning the Holy Redeemer Church from the Mount Desert Street Corridor District to the Downtown Residential District,’ be enacted?” The amendment and scheduling votes carried 7-0.
Council also approved scheduling public hearings on Design Review (LUO Amendment #2026-02), Campgrounds and Private Campsites (LUO Amendment #2026-03), and Minimum Area Per Family (LUO Amendment #2026-04); each order passed 7-0. On Lodging Regulations (LUO Amendment #2026-05), Councilors identified a scrivener’s error: an omitted district where Lodging 1 is currently allowed. The Council amended the order to add recitals and correct §125-32 (Ireson Hill Residential) to reflect the intent that Lodging 1 be eliminated consistently across districts as previously discussed. The amendment and scheduling of the hearing were approved 7-0.
Next steps: the Council will conduct the March 17 and June 9 public hearings as scheduled and consider final votes after public testimony and any additional staff reports.
