A county staff member said the next procedural step following tonight’s budget approval will be millage‑rate hearings once the county receives the tax digest from the tax commissioner. "So, if the budget is approved tonight, then that that's it with the budget. Now, we will have our millage rate hearings as soon as I receive the tax digest from the tax commissioner," the staff member said, adding that the digest is expected "hopefully mid July" and that staff will present millage‑rate scenarios at those meetings.
A motion to adopt the fiscal 2027 budget was made and recorded as moved by Mr. Jackson. A different committee member seconded the motion. The governing body then voted; the motion passed with a unanimous voice vote. No roll‑call tally of individual votes was read into the record.
After the budget vote, a member moved to adjourn and Mr. Jackson seconded; that motion also passed unanimously and the meeting ended shortly thereafter.
The approved budget will stand as adopted pending the forthcoming millage‑rate hearings and any adjustments that result from the tax digest, which county staff said will determine the actual millage scenarios presented to the public.
