Resident pitches multipurpose pickleball court; council urges more detailed plans

Resident Jaclyn Daake told the Alma City Council on July 1 that there is community interest in creating a flexible, multipurpose court that could host pickleball, basketball and tennis. Daake identified three possible locations including City Park and two sites near the walking path and said the group will pursue grant funding to cover part of the cost.
Councilmember Larry Casper cautioned that two of the suggested locations are on U.S. Army Corps property and would require permission from the corps before any work could proceed. Councilmember Tom Moulton said the idea had merit and asked Daake to return with more concrete plans. No formal action or funding commitment was made at the meeting.
The council advised the resident group to continue exploring sites and funding and to return with detailed proposals for the city to consider.
