Alvo trustees adopt One-and-Six Year street plan and seek $345,000 CDBG grant

ALVO, Neb. — The Village of Alvo Board of Trustees voted Aug. 20 to adopt its One-and-Six Year Street Improvement Plan and to certify municipal compliance in order to pursue a $345,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for roadway work.

Vice Chairperson Cathina Schueth called the One-and-Six public hearing to order at 7:31 p.m. at Village of Alvo Hall. Trustee Chris Julifs was administered the oath of office during the meeting, the minutes show.

Board discussion focused on a proposed asphalt overlay of Fletcher Avenue from Russel Street to Boyles Street as the primary CDBG-funded project. The minutes note the village would be required to pledge a 10% local match in writing to secure CDBG funding. Board members also discussed rerocking alleys throughout Alvo as part of the six-year plan.

Schueth read the Municipal Annual Certification of Program Compliance to the Nebraska Board of Public Roads Classifications and Standards (2024), identified in the minutes as Resolution No. 2024-003. Trustee Larry Langer moved to adopt the One-and-Six plan and the certification; Trustee Chris Julifs seconded. The motion carried on a 4-0 vote with Trustee Roger Paul recorded as absent.
