Georgetown Conservation Commission forwards MOUs to selectboard, approves $4,000 partial survey payment and schedules coastal cleanup

At its April 14 meeting, the Georgetown Conservation Commission voted to forward a signed Playground memorandum of understanding (MOU) to the Georgetown selectboard and voted unanimously to send the Town Forest MOU (signed by the school) to the selectboard for its consideration.
The commission agreed the town will pay surveyor John Wood $4,000 as a partial payment from the current budget for the Ipcar Reserve survey; the minutes note a proposed $2,000 in next year’s budget to finish payment. The commission postponed action on the Town Forest Use Application until Cheryl is present at next month’s meeting.
Commissioners planned a 2025 Coastal Cleanup and set collection days for one day each in June, August and September; Jessica Weller and Sue Shade will meet in the second week of May to plan logistics. The commission also said emergency information sheets will be sent to Bath Printing so they should be available for the town’s "Get to Know Your Neighbor" event on May 4 and for Town Meeting.
Other updates included a report from Lisa Ames that Georgetown Community School recently tapped red maples successfully, and notice of a spring program: a presentation about insect spraying and management on Zoom on May 14 at 6:30 PM featuring biologist Colin Purrington.
Next steps recorded in the minutes: the selectboard will receive the two MOUs for consideration; the commission will follow up on the survey payment and meet again on May 12 at 6:00 PM.
