The Navajo County Board of Supervisors handled a set of routine and project items at its Sept. 24 meeting and recorded the following formal actions.
Key approvals - Consent agenda: Approved by voice vote after a supervisor recused themself from one item involving the Mahoney Group. (SEG 055–119) - Contract B24-06-005 (parcel fabric): Board awarded a professional parcel-mapping contract to Bruce Harris & Associates Inc. after staff described the RFP process and evaluation. (SEG 1304–1406) - Liquor license: The board approved a new restaurant liquor license for MJ’s Hideaway at 1896 Silver Lake Boulevard (no public opposition at the hearing). (SEG 1408–1449) - Public fiduciary lien: The board approved placing a $1,463.40 lien on property of John Phillip Born to recover county costs for an indigent burial, allowed under statute. (SEG 1450–1502) - Cobble Creek final plat amendment (Resolution No. 39-2024): Following a public hearing with one speaker in favor, the board approved removal/combination of tracts, easement modifications and lot-line adjustments in the Cobble Creek subdivision. Staff recommended approval; no opposition was recorded in public comment to the amendment. (SEG 1503–1712) - Joseph City sidewalks (CDBG/ADOH agreement): Public Works presented the CDBG funding agreement to support sidewalk construction between two schools; the board approved entering the agreement, which provides partial construction funding on a reimbursement basis. (SEG 3541–3592) - Victory Heights Road Maintenance District consent items: The Board convened the district board, approved consent items and returned to regular session. (SEG 3610–3640)
Tabled item - SBA Communications / Verizon 120-foot monopole (White Antelope/Concho Highway): After extended public testimony and board discussion, supervisors voted to table the special-use permit to the November meeting and requested additional coverage, drive-test, vehicle count, mailbox relocation and property-value data and evaluation. Votes and procedure notes - Most routine motions passed by voice vote with the ayes recorded in the transcript. When a supervisor recused themself, the recusal was entered on the record prior to the vote. The board directed staff and applicants to provide additional evidence where staff or public questions remained.
What to watch next - The SBA/Verizon tower will be returned to the Board in November with supplemental RF and market information; staff noted the county must consider the FCC 150-day review timeline when scheduling follow-up action.
